After my first review, I continued ordering from Monsun every other week. Over the time I discovered many outrageously tasty dishes like the Samosa Chaat, Nawabi Chicken Korma, Shrimp tikka masala. The Korma requires a special mention, probably the best tasting Korma that I can remember. Its so creamy and sweet, and the chicken almost melts in the mouth. I don’t find much bones in the Goat Biryani anymore either. Monsun has become one of my staple food places for take outs while working from home.
Original Review:
I ordered a Goat dum Biryani and a chicken kati roll for lunch on a weekday via one of the delivery apps. The ordered was prepared and dispatched pretty fast, and arrived 20 minutes before the ETA. So that was impressive!!
I really liked the chicken kati roll. It had huge pieces of chicken and a nice blend of spices and sauce. The wrap was also soft and holding all the ingredients properly.
I wasn’t fond of the goat Biryani as much. It was very spicy for me even though I requested mild. So, their regular spice level might have been beyond my tolerance. The Biryani also had a lot of small pieces of bones, which made it annoying to eat the rice. But the quality of the goat was really good, I just wish they had removed most of the bones.
Despite the goat Biryani setback, I’ll consider ordering from them again, since that delivery app doesn’t have much Indian options near me.
It was fabulous ambience, ample spacious and amazing food. Even the reception and service is so good and homely. Normally if we say indian restaurant, every food item would be greasy. But here, it is very good.
Buffet is just $14.99. It has variety of options. Chicken tandoori, Lamb curry, Goat biryani were excellent. My kid also enjoyed a lot.
If anyone looking for great food at Indian restaurant with spacious and good ambience It is Monsun.
Wonderful ambience, very warm and welcoming staff.. not to forget a decent spread of menu with veg and non veg tasty food. the dessert.. The gulab jamoon was the best I had since India. The veg curries were just awesome. The staff was also nice and the Indian music they were playing was good too.
Warm decor with Indian rain forest and flora and fauna motifs throughout the restaurant which evokes the monsoon season in India. Food was good and the service has improved dramatically since my last visit.
First timer here .. food was good but not extra ordinary . One advantage of buffet is you get more, but one disadvantage is - it’s not fresh . I would have preferred ala carte but they didn’t have it. I had veggie only and it was a ok spread. My friend ms had meat and it was tasting good according to them. My review is for vegetarians :)
Spinach paneer, and veg manchu balls were good. Veg curry was average . Rice was very dry and so was naan .. gulag jamun and kheeer was good .. good service .. overall an average experience
Today we went there to try their biryanis but sad news is they didn’t have biryanis for today. So we try veg fired rice, chicken tikka, eggplants, lamb curry ( they served more food the one I don’t know the name ☺️ it’s good too). It’s really really delicious and we love it. Before we finish eating, one lady (I think the owner) came to us and asked “how it everything?”. We told her everything is great and actually we came for biryanis and we didn’t get it today. You know what she doing! She went to the kitchen and told the chef to cook biryanis one bowl for us to taste. 😮😮 So today I can eat the best biryanis I ever eat in my life time.
I can give you guy more than 5 starts. The foods are good, fresh and tastes. Services is goods well.
Thank You Monsun. We will definitely come back to you. Only one request I have is “Please serve biryanis on weekends “☺️ (may be one day in the weekend) ☺️☺️.
I forget one thing about decoration. I love their decorations. ☺️
The food is cooked correctly but under spiced. They clarified that they keep it mild in the buffet. However, that's one cardinal mistake that Indian restaurants make. Why would I go to an Indian restaurant were I not going to be served REAL Indian food? Note: Their Chicken Tikka Masala is better than most Indian restaurants that I've been to in the Tri-State area.
The restaurant needs to remove the sign that shows they serve buffet. I think it is overpriced & expensive for indian food.
